Queer Screens Network
The Queer Screens Network is an inclusive platform for everyone working at the intersection of LGBTQI+ matters and the screen (very broadly defined) and will comprise screenings, exhibitions, discussions, talks, and social events across the UK and far beyond.
QSN was founded by Dr Leanne Dawson (University of Edinburgh), Dr Anamarija Horvat (University of Edinburgh), and Dr Inmaculada Sánchez-García (Newcastle University), academics with a passion for collaborating with artists, activists etc beyond universities, meaning QSN is inclusive and non-hierarchical: anyone working on queer screens in any capacity is welcome to organise, host, contribute to, or attend an event, which we will advertise through this website and our mailing list (join here).
The network was inspired by conversations between Dr. Leanne Dawson, Dr. Anamarija Horvat, and Dr. Inmaculada Sanchez Garcia (see 'about us', on the menu link above) at the international Queer Screens conference, which Inmaculada and Anamarija organised in 2017 at Northumbria University, Newcastle, UK. It featured renowned queer theorist, Professor Jack Halberstam as its keynote speaker and brought together delegates from the UK, Europe, North America and Asia.
